The National Transmission Corporation is a government-owned and -controlled corporation spun-off from the National Power Corporation as provided by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001. Since its independent operation in March 2003, TransCo operated and managed the country’s power transmission system linking the power plants to the electric distribution utilities nationwide. The same law mandated the privatization of TransCo through an outright sale or management concession contract.
